Fair enough, I’m still trying to figure out most of them myself. It’s just the first first distro I used that my son set up for me. It’s a gaming oriented Fedora with KDE and comes preloaded with stuff for playing games. It did seem like it was working pretty well for a lot of stuff, but I went against my son’s advice and started trying to learn the terminal and borked some stuff, so he switched me to vanilla Fedora and now I’m missing stuff I need to run some of the games. I don’t know if anybody else has used it much it that has had any experience. Like I said I’m only on my second distro myself.

1·2 days agoI’d like to have some home network type of deal set up, I’ve been meaning to look into that. Self-hosting comm more. I don’t really have Internet right now though, aside from my cell phone, so I’m not sure if that would put a damper on things.

3·2 days agoKind of janky but maybe something like this? https://soundclouddl.cc/ or something like this perhaps https://github.com/archisvaze/arcdlp if you just use a search engine to look up YouTube to MP3 or something to that nature you can find a lot of different results. I think they even make browser extensions as well.

2·3 days agoI actually did just buy a lot of albums in the last 48 hours, once I realized that I could bc my tax return lol. Before that I was pretty broke and wishing I could actually buy some. A light bulb finally went off and I was like oh yeah, I got some money now :p I do like to test drive a lot to see if I really vibe with it also. if it’s something that actually touches me, I usually wind up wanting to have a higher quality version stored locally.

103·3 days agoI pretty much only use it for music, and most of the extensions have still gotten me by. At least long enough to rip the song to my hard drive for offline use. Fuck $16 a month. That’s ridiculous. For $16 I could get an album or two every month and not have to worry about some buffering bullshit. After a year, not only would I be supporting the artists directly and avoiding paying paying a scummy company, I’d actually have some discographies built up to permanently show for it. They’re just inadvertently trying to support people sailing the high seas. So irritating…

So wait the scientists would be doing drugs and talking about Star Trek while sharing research?
We really did fuck up the timeline, didn’t we?
