I don’t typically use a VPN so take my advice with a grain of salt, but I’m pretty sure what you’re looking for is split tunneling. Set it so that all traffic goes through your VPN except the IP of your NAS.

I’m finally playing Celeste and honestly it’s living up to the hype. The art style is amazing, great soundtrack, solid platforming mechanics, and just the perfect balance of challenging and rewarding. The storyline is really endearing too, I have a huge crush on Theo.

I’ve also started Cyberpunk 2077. It’s the first big AAA game I’ve played in a while, and I’m honestly kinda overwhelmed by the scope of the game. 7 hours in and I still felt like I was going through a tutorial. GTA-style open worlds aren’t usually my fav kind of games but I really dig the cyberpunk setting so far.

I used to pirate movies my older neighbour wanted to see and burn them on blank DVDs because she felt way more comfortable having discs than streaming. That could be an option if you have a tech-averse person in your life you care about.

She had a bunch of empty cases too, and would make customer covers for each movie with a sharpie and a piece of paper.

I’ve recently bought a Steam Deck and have been getting back into gaming after a long hiatus.

I used to play competitive online games (mostly Counter-Strike) and got kinda burnt out on them. It made me not want to game for a while, so I’m diving into slower-paced, single-player games.

Viewfinder and Superliminal are both perspective-based puzzle games that I’ve been really enjoying. Tickles my brain in kind of the same way the Portal games did on my first playthroughs.

Speaking of Portal, I’ve also started Portal: Revolution which is a fan-made mod whose story takes place between the two official games. For what it is, it’s honestly quite excellent, the puzzles are challenging and fun. Not quite as well-polished as Portal 2, but so far it’s giving the first game a run for its money.

I’ve also been emulating a ton of Mario Kart 8, trying to git gud, my friend group often breaks it out at get-togethers and I want to surprise them with my sudden increase in skill!

EDIT: I forgot, I’ve also been playing Stray which is honestly such a chill game, you play as a stray cat in this kinda post-apocalyptic world, which you slowly uncover more info about as you hop around. 10/10 so far, might become a catgirl.

I, and I assume most people, go into the comments on Lemmy to interact with other people. If I wanted to fucking chit-chat with an LLM (why you’d want to do that, I can’t fathom), I’d go do that. We all have access to LLMs if we wish to have bullshit with a veneer of eloquency spouted at us.

You’re mistakenly assuming the attributes are binary, stuff like screen resolution, regions, languages all have many possible values to help narrow down and identify you. It really doesn’t take that many for you to be identifiable.

Red lights and stop signs are designed for cars and it’s honestly stupid to expect cyclists to treat them the same way. Studies have shown that treating stops as yields when on a bike is safer for all road users.

You should know that it doesn’t take “motor vehicle speeds” to cause a (serious) accident.

That’s not what I said. I was pointing out how your “swerve into a post because a cyclist ran a red light” is a dangerous situation made possible only by the presence of cars.

Cyclists on the whole break traffic laws a lot less than motorists.

Also, I love how your only example of “the dangers of cyclists” involves someone in a car having to react to a cyclist. If everyone is cycling, speeds are low enough to react and typically avoid collisions even if a potential conflict arises. The “forces someone to swerve” phenomenon mostly happens at the speed of motor vehicles.

Bicycle insurance and plates? Why? That makes zero sense. We have these for cars because cars are dangerous, not just for funsies. Bicycles don’t pose the same danger.

Walking… if you have time and physical ability, but who cares about that, right? It’s so cool and eco-friendly to say “just walk 20 minutes”.

Paragraph 4.5 of Google Play’s Developer Distribution Agreement is a rather large barrier. I’ll paste it here:

I’d wager the majority of Android users have never downloaded an application other than from the Google Play Store. Even among those who would try, a large amount of them would probably get scared off by the “unverified sources” popup Android gives you if you try to install an app in another manner.
