If they maintain and update their firmware, which they’re notoriously bad about doing.

I have 3. Unfortunately I’ve learned they’re awful about maintaining and updating their firmware. They’re functionally pretty good, but they stop providing updates to older models quickly. I won’t buy again.

They’ll still allow AI bots. Only the ones they authorize though. Without them their paying customers will realize how many people have left.

True in a single party consent state, but its a felony to record conversations of others without their knowledge in a two (or all) party consent state.

Pihole runs a dns service for your network, translating server names to ip addresses. The block lists keep certain ads, malware and other unwanted behavior from functioning, but only those that can be blocked this way. Not all ads and malware can be. For instance it can’t block YouTube ads so browser extensions like UBlock Origin are still useful but it certainly blocks a lot of stuff.

That raspberrypi would work but to be clear, while pihole started on Raspberry Pi hardware you can run pihole on virtually anything now. It’s lightweight so old hardware is fine. I’m setting it up for my daughters house on an old refurb Chromebook - reformatted to run Linux Mint.

Not with GPS accuracy

That doesn’t work too well out in the ocean and lots of other places too. If you can’t use your gravity map, you’re gonna use GPS for precise position data.

I’m not sure you got me. How do the map makers update the map? If the gravity variance changes so it can’t be used to determine your position then clearly you need some other way to determine your position to update the gravity map. And what might that be??

But how do you get your position to update your map? Oh… GPS will work!

That’s crazy! I had no idea they were charging that much now. Thanks for sharing!

It only solves it if you can install it on those routers. Can you??

I got the same error but hit reload and then it loaded fine.

Legally they can’t unless we grant them permission, and we shouldn’t. Everyone should be offended if they even ask.

I’m not sure it’s fear of lawsuits. We don’t sue cell carriers for not monitoring text messages, and even if we did Snapchat’s pockets are deep.
Snapchat isn’t afraid of being sued… they’re selling your data and may also assist the government identify “Anti-fa” agents.

So we should grant permission to our cell carrier to listen in on our calls and read our text messages too without warrant? Of course they’ll sell your data too.
Don’t give up your freedom and your constitutional right to privacy.

Except Snapchat doesn’t have to surveil its customers and we really don’t want it to.
Does Apple surveil iMessages? Does your cell carrier need to monitor your text messages? Does it listen to your calls to see if you make terroristic threats?
Some bad things might be prevented if we “listened in” to all communications and then triggered a police response when something alarming was said. But doing so is ripe for abuse by those in power as well and that’s why warrants are required before surveillance and the invasion of your privacy is allowed. No warrant was necessary here because Snapchat makes you accept the surveillance under its terms of use, which all apps and cell carriers could technically do. And your Amazon Alexas. We don’t want that. Without privacy you don’t have freedom.

Yep… couldn’t agree more. I has its uses but too many people are using it and disconnecting their brain. Going to meetings where people have used it to determine requirements, do analysis or even transform data and then don’t even review the results themselves before presenting and asking us to review them is rage-inducing. “What do you mean it has problems? Where? What’s wrong??” And there’s like 5 things I’ve spotted in 2 minutes and it’s clear they’ve not even reviewed it themselves.
This guy and his long-ass, poorly formatted AI-generated “documentation” no one asked for and then after numerous errors are pointed out… “Will you review the rest?” The audacity!! 😄
It doesn’t remember but that won’t keep it from answering a question as to whether it thinks an email was AI generated. It’ll also be happy to confidently answer a question with a wrong answer to.
