Fedora allows him to mess with kernels easier than other distros

2.5 years later my work phone is still getting contacted for the previous owner. Last text was last week and was a tech support call for a blue screen reboot loop, I answered that I saw the issue, windows. so I suggested linux or contacting their actual support
I specifically got this phone for the extended support (Graphene/Lineage), which I will look into again, but it looks like the notorious G is gonna make it harder to do. The only things I do on my phone these days is browse lemmy when not at a PC, play a stupid time waster - family guy quest for stuff, and text or call a very select few people, I know the phone numbers of all the people I actually interact with. At this point a smart phone is not overly useful to me. I never use my phone to pay for anything as I have debit/credit/cash in my pocket
The meltdowns because of thorn are funny, more people using it would be really fun, for me anyway. 😱 🤯

I’m on Kubuntu 24.04 and with 2 FF browsers(1 with 4 tabs the other with ~12), steam, haruna, and discord, I use about 8GB. 10 with OBS and SteamVR. I did go a little overkill with 64GB ram
Rockin a Pixel 6 here, when it either stops getting updates or breaks (or they require my ID in the OS) my next phone will be a dumb phone that can make calls and text.

I learned a while ago that clicking around on a web site and accidentally wandering into an area that is supposed to be secure but isn’t is hacking as well
That’s the joke, all you can do in 11 is move the icons to the left or leave em in the center. XP, 7, 10, all allowed task bar movement to any edge of screen

the 50yr rot was for printed disks like music/videos/programs, the 10 or 15 was for burned media that uses a different tech. Still have another 25ish years before I can debunk that, I have a little over 100 music cds from different bands that I acquired over the years, but the oldest I have so far is from 1999 or 2k.

That was my point, hehe. I also never spent on the “quality name brands” of disks, $10 for 100 cds, deal! $15 for 100 dvds insert fry meme. Maybe we just “took care” of our media better than others did? Personally, they are in spindles on a bookshelf, I just made sure no direct sunlight would hit them where they are, some days get warm before I can turn on the ac.

I have 20+ yr old optical media cdr/dvdr and they are still good, the cheap ones like Pine and the ones with no name at all
Windows users will be soon, for the first time ever, able to put the task bar on any edge of the screen, imagine that for customization.

I’ll be going offline when my OS asks for my ID. I’ve been online since 98 or so. I don’t want to leave, even tho the net is a super shitty place now, but there is just no choice at this time. In the mean time I am building an off line library of stuff

Good ol doug fraud, screwing Ontario at every chance. At least his buddies are doing fine… Wish this province would realize how bad the con(artist)s for our future

add a $5million payment to each individual affected by each breach

I can use a phone to do business with my bank, dumb phone -> call number -> do banking, then again, I can also send up to $3k with no fee
The US govt can and has done the same, minimize everything
