He makes them all in Krita as well.

Most people so rarely need to navigate legislation that Ordinance Survey maps aren’t common. Ordnance Survey maps on the other hand are great for navigating the British countryside.

hooray my fuser has jammed, my transfer belt has stretched, toner is smeared everywhere, my printer weighs a ton.
It’s not really designed to be a Discord replacement. It’s a messaging app/protocol that can do voice/video calls. Discord is a passive state voice / video / text channel app that was designed to create spaces for different topics. Matrix has added a similar hierarchical feature as an option, but its not the same and I don’t think it was meant to be.

Every program ideally should be in a sandbox and if it wants permission to access something it should have to ask for it.

Ease of management and surveillance (most such tools marketed at schools are Windows only), first class integration into active directory for user and computer account management, hardware agnostic (rules out macos), and it’s already integrated into the IT team’s systems and processes so switching would be a major effort.

Cryptobots don’t understand sarcasm

This has been my favourite tech story for the past few years, I hope the train company gets put in its place properly this time.
Edit: This article is from July last year.
None of what is considered ‘AI’ is actually AI, it’s just a rebrand of machine learning tech that has been around for a few years now (and is genuinely useful in certain circumstances). It’s all ‘AI’, only the generative AI is worth getting mad about.

Then explain Denmark

Local ML translation was pretty cool

Similar concepts have been developed before, Microsoft and Southampton University were working on glass cubes with 3D laser etchings in the centre around 2015-16

This may just be a usecase thing, but what is the advantage of this over imagemagick? I can already magick photo1.jpg -resize 50% photo1.png and when the process ends it’s not constantly using resources in a webserver.

I also bought a lifetime Plex pass a few years ago, but I’ve migrated to Jellyfin because Plex is no longer a trustworthy project.

Evil has no birthplace, it has always existed in all people. Evil was there long before ‘The West’ or ‘Middle East’ were things. Religions don’t cause evil or intolerance, but some religions can be easily used to justify stoning gay people to death, or killing women for daring to be independant. If the bible didn’t command that gay people be murdered, or if Islam didn’t command that apostates be slain, it would be much harder to justify these evil acts. This isn’t a problem of religion, it’s a problem of cultures that take their religion too seriously.

This pressure is coming from the payment providers without whom no storefront can operate. We need alternatives to Visa and Mastercard.
This isn’t a secret plot by systemd, this is gnome making dependency choices and a distro that explicitly doesn’t support the new dependency being left in the cold. That’s just how dependencies work.
Won’t help the software compatibility
Vantablack is quite fragile and would quickly disintegrate at high speeds
