They are not new domains. .ml is the domain for Mali. .ee is from estonia. .website is a generic one. There’s a whole bunch of them, but you can’t just make something up. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Internet_top-level_domains

But it isn’t. It’s growing and it will keep growing. Only a tiny percentage gives a shit about privacy and decentralization.
That said, I already much prefer Lemmy.
