We are ecstatic to announce that we have released the first experimental version of Pidgin 3.0!!! This is a pre alpha release with an official version number of 2.90.0. We will continue releasing in this fashion until we are ready for 3.0.0 which will be the release we consider ready for end users. The release can be found on SourceForge. Update: Well it wouldn’t be the first release in a long time without a nearly immediate update… It turns out that we missed some bugs that affected new user...

I can’t believe this is still going. I used this back in the day as the superior AIM client. This was truly a blast from the past that I didn’t expect in 2025.

I remember it for the same reason. Pretty cool that the project is still going

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word “Linux” in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
