What’s Conversations? I’m missing some context here on the significance.
It a messaging app for android that uses XMPP protocol.
Instead of a phone number, users get a xmpp address (like an email address) which is used to send/receive messages, make voice/video calls. Has all the features ppl like (group chats, file xfer, typing indicator, encryption, etc) and is decentralized and open.
FWIW, WhatApp is actually based on XMPP protocol.
