Sometimes concept cars manage to get through relatively unscathed.
The Renault 5 and the Renault Twingo revivals spring to mind.

I would agree but they’re enormous! The new Twingo is 30 cm longer and 9 cm wider than the original although an electric car has fewer parts and can be more compact. I get that crash safety adds some bulk but without the danger of the engine in front where does all the extra length come from? It’s just a bad decision.

I love the looks of both of these, they’re brilliant, just had a new Twingo behind me on my drive home today. My guess is that these appeal to my generation who were kids when things like the original Renault 5 were around. My dad drove us around in a Renault 4 when we were kids…

The R5 isn’t a concept car anymore but one of Renault’s best sellers and it is extremely close its concept car version. Same goes for the Renault Twingo.

That said, the 2CV concept car looks like it would have to change more to become street legal and a reasonable product.
