Renewables have been playing a HUGE part in the world economy not spiraling down into economic collapse during this crisis. If an oil shortage of this magnitude happened 20 years ago things would‘ve looked a lot bleaker I think.
Renewables have won the debate by being cheaper and making countries less reliable on a handful of dodgy suppliers. Because unlike gas and oil that we burn and use up immediately, solar and wind parks stay for a while. As it turns out, the sun and the wind are indeed more reliable than dictators and dictator wannabes.
