They are very efficient indeed! But we have the windows open for 75% of the year, closed for 10%, and only turn the HVAC on the the remaining 15%. It unfortunately does not pencil out for me. However, when my existing system kicks the bucket, you bet your ass I’m going all electric!
Don’t forget the hot water. A big drain on electricity. Heat pumps are really cost effective for that, only beaten by solar collectors (if you have the roof space).
