Kind of crazy for a company like Valve to have such low-hanging fruits around. They are printing money and should have the ressources to put some manpower into improving important things like the startup time of their shop.

At valve, people work on things they want to work on. Evidently no one cared enough or thought it enough of a problem to deal with, but now that doing it pisses on epic? Now it’s fun.

Which is a really bad way to do things - yes, it’s not fun. But they have let hundreds of millions of people wait for years?

You are clueless. That time spent wasnt and isn’t worth their time investment. It was and has always been a great product. Now it’s an even better product and you’re whining.

          You can’t make this up.

Loading time is one of the key metrics for every ecommerce site for good reasons. It is actually shocking that the biggest store for computer games was not optimized here.

But as a result, the quality is very noticable, when you have people working with relatively less pressure on things that they love
