My friend gave me an ASRock Extreme4 Z97 motherboard. I’m gonna try putting CachyOS on it and see how it runs games. That’ll be my own Steam Machine if it meets my performance expectations.
The Steam machine stats are absolutely pathetic by PC Master Race standards… but that’s the thing–they are actually targetting the median Steam user and they have the data. I think the most common GPU is around a 2060 right now. We reached the start of the top of the S- curve a decade ago, at least.
Edit: Nope, it’s 1060. Bwahahaha.
Edit: Ugh. It was a 1060 I guess when DDG was training it’s AI. Currently 3060.

Most common is 3060? That’s much higher than I expected. I assumed we had all regressed to ancient technology due to shortages
