They’re destroying the books because it’s cheaper than scanning them intact.
The Concorde cut a 7-8 hour transatlantic flight to under 3.5 hours. People didn’t fly the Concorde to arrive four hours sooner. The difference of not being stuffed in a giant Tylenol for an extra four hours was the greatest selling point.
For every ten users who decry AI voices and animation, a thousand more will blindly click “Like” and “Subscribe”. The people have spoken, and they want to eat straight from the fertilizer pile.

Maybe it would have been less sensationalist to say they’re scanning vehicles 20 billion times a month.
Someone probably said “Would you kindly zip up all of your testing photos and videos and upload them to this Dropbox?” to the AI customer service agent.
