I switched to Linux myself but can we please stop lying about Linux being a drop-in replacement? There is enough sofware that does not work.

That still won’t say anything about the reliability of the medium. The update itself isn’t the problem.
Depends. If you need updates on the software used in the air gapped network you won’t have lot of options. Burning cd’s doesn’t sound so crazy all of a sudden though…
I mean, it’s very easy money given you already have a channel and a name dor youself. What would YT have to pay creators to not care about such easy money?
As a YT Premium subscriber I really don’t mind the sponsor sections. Money goes to the creator and a few taps and I’m back to watching. Also, I think outright banning sponsor segments is going to make creators more creative in a bad way…
I might just be tired but I’m having a hard time understanding what you’re asking.
Just switched after seeing how much of my Steam library I could play on my Deck. Just have to switch back for BF5 sometimes and I don’t miss Windows at all. Very nice experience.
This. Files uploaded locally should automatically be synced though.
A simple PC, you can also use it to browse, download stuff, Steam stream etc. The possibilities are endless
So you think that what you have described above is something all Windows 10 users deal with?
For all it’s shortcomings this sounds more of something on your end and also something quirky that you will any OS really…
In this context an unsupported cpu would be an i7 7700K for example. Hardly e-waste and can perform quite well…
Kinda disagree here, my parents also won’t install Windows or any other OS by themselves. An average person isn’t going to switch to an alternate OS. Because they do not care.
An average person however IS going to want that specific Windows only mail client, legacy applications that don’t run on Linux or use their bank website that isn’t supported by Linux.
This is a one way ticket to making yourself the sole family sysadmin.
Then again, rebuying all your games and paying way too much for them is something to take into account. But admittedly, the PS5’s thing where you can play some PS4 games is pretty neat.
Can you name them for me because I can’t seem to find them for sale in Europe. Apart from Axis.
It’s not about performance but compatibility. Such as certain anti-cheat software in online games.
If you have duplicate shortcuts you probably have the same OneDrive account on multiple computers. Put them on your public desktop in stead of your own OneDrive backed up desktop.
Sorry but I hate this argument. Most people use a phone for that anyway. And my 70 year old mom is going to ask my dad and if he can’t fix the problem someone else and guess what. They never worked with Linux. I can tell you that a lot of the buttons and controls have looked the same in Windows for way too long. Admittedly from Windows 10/11 this gets worse.
Also they will need software from the local photo place, some shit old legacy app that they refuse to let go, banking software that isn’t Linux compatible… it’s never “just browsing” from my experience and it’s not worth the hassle. Especially if I’m cornering myself by becoming the only 24/7 on-call admin for my family.
You took this out of the context it was in.
