This could very well be the anwser. there are in fact c: and z: in ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/0/pfx/dosdevices
although i couldn’t find an indicator that those are actually in use when launching a game through steam
Ah ok i think i get why it doesn’t work through the auto mount, but i still don’t understand why it works completely fine if i mount it through steam? What is different when steam mounts it?
I am running arch and Firefox and i can confirm i am miserable.
I love it tho
Well that is one yes. There are more than just one
Why? There a non gnu linux distros
It works well enough for my game drive. At least i have yet to encounter any problem
So i normally go with ext4, however windows can’t really access ext4 drives so you’d need to find a file system that both support if you want to access the drive/partition from windows. My drive with all the games is ntfs for example which works in Windows and Linux. (At least for normal storage, idk if you can boot linux from it although i wouldn’t see why not)
I assume this continues the boot process even if a drive is not found or something? Because if so you just solved another unrelated issue of mine while also saving me from ½ - 1 hour of troubleshooting/researching
I installed windows on an external drive for gaming. Now my arch install is stuck at a start job for some drive, wich causes it to time out and not boot completely. Couldn’t be assed to fix it yesterday.
Also i installed nvim in windows for exactly that
I actually like this bot even tho i have seen more people hate than love it
I actually don’t know how that happened. It was either a youtube video: when linux met r/unixporn or my privacy & freedom concerns that suddenly appeared in like the span of a week
Can’t you do systemctl status [service]
to check that?
Of course that was worth 3 hours. Every tinkering/experimenting is worth it. In the worst case you gain experience
Manjaro takes away the only reason i use arch. Almost no pre installed software except what you need to get things running.
not on the level of a power user
Learns kernel basics
Bro i think you may be underestimating yourself
Year of the linux desktop confirmed?!😱
Beautiful
no thats the thing, steam works without a problem. it is only when i do it NOT through steam where i get issues.
but i play mainly on windows anyway, i just wanted to try it out a bit out of boredom and got surprisingly good results.
i just wait how the windows kernel restrictions influence kernel level anti cheat, and depending on the result i may switch to full linux again if kernel AC breaks and devs are forced to use “normal” AC again
