Oh cool! I’ll need to look into that, thanks! Wonder if there’s a way to convert an existing Windows into this somehow, installed software and all, because that would be perfect…

Right, but you have to boot into Windows first to even get the update in the first place…
So, no booting into Windows until this is fixed then? Fine by me. Hell, might actually make me uninstall it completely and free some disk space…
Same here. I was fine with W10, but the recent W11 shenanigans were the last straw, and I decided to give Linux Mint a try. Couldn’t be happier - everything is so much more snappy now. And since I game on consoles only and my crappy PC was never a gaming machine to begin with, I have zero issues - wish I switched sooner!
Next step: sue the power companies for providing electricity to the bad, nasty pirates, their landlords for allowing the egregious acts of piracy on their property, and their mothers for not raising them right… /facepalm
Warning: non-transparent walls, window blinds and door locks prevent lawful interception and surveillance - how are the authorities supposed to know you’re not doing something naughty in there?
“Ozymandias Clock” would perhaps be a more fitting name…
Out of curiosity, since I switched from Windows to Mint recently so I’m not married to it just yet - what would be your recommended distro for Windows users that uses a better/newer tech stack? Mint worked out of the box for me, but if love to try other distros too if they’re better.
Yet another childish tantrum? Wow, is it another day ending with “y” already? How time flies…
Do it you pathetic spoiled manchild, stop flapping your gums and actually bloody do it.
Riiiight. And, pray tell Adobe, why in the everloving fuck woul you ever need to “review” private content that’s not posted anywhere? Stop acting like you’re the goddamned pre-crime agency from Minority Report and keep your dirty paws off stuff people are creating privately.
You are providing tools, and that’s it. I can do horrible, illegal shit with my drill, but it doesn’t give Black&Decker any right to break into my house to do random checks and see if I’m drilling through kneecaps instead of wooden planks…
Classic late stage capitalism, where humans’ sole reason for existence is being advertised to. Soon we’ll start putting ads in incubators too, and invalidate this Onion article: https://www.theonion.com/17-days-in-incubator-longest-time-premature-baby-will-g-1851456014
Same! It was actually a pretty big surprise that Mint worked flawlessly out of the box on my crappy pre-built PC. Everything’s working great including the printer! I’m seriously impressed.
Will it come with its own proprietary chat?
Same - I was mildly curious to be honest, but not nearly enough to give them my phone number.
Greedy rent-seeking garbage humans would make breathing a subscription if they could. And the sad and scary part is that for some reason there are people ready and willing to pay for the Premium Oxygen Subscription Plus with unlimited breaths per day and the Gold Blinking Packaage added for free for the first month ($99.95 after that)…
Or, it should be exactly as difficult/complicated to cancel as to sign in. Want a 15-step cancellation process involving phones, faxes and a blood offering? Gotta require all that to sign up too!
Another revolution in battery tech? Man, is it Friday already? Look how time flies…
What I did was first set all the options up and save them, and then go to “Cookies” in the search engine settings and copy the “Search URL of the currently saved preferences”. Then, open Firefox settings -> Search -> Manage alternative search engines -> Add search engine and paste the thing into the “Search string URL” field, type in the name and press save. After that I just set it as default, and it works.
Hope this helps!
Great list! Is there a way to easily add SearXNG as a default search engine in Firefox for Android? That’s the only thing I’d like to make it even more convenient
EDIT: found it! Search url with current options is hidden at the bottom of the “cookies” section in the settings. Would be nice to have the suggestions API link too, but oh well, I’ll take what I can get :)
Amen to that. I’m not a busy CEO of four companies, I don’t need or want an assistant, digital or otherwise. I want to read through articles and watch videos, I can scroll/fast-forward through myself if I feel like it. And while we’re at it, I don’t really need or want personalized anything - just give me ALL the search results and I’ll sort through them myself. Luddite? Maybe, but I literally cannot think of a case where this would be useful or helpful to me…
