Obviously. Why is that threatened by this antitrust ruling ?

Nonsense. The users who have left are an infinitesimal portion of users.
This article doesn’t even bother to explain the connection. I don’t get it if I’m honest.
booking.com is the worst I’ve encountered. There’s a captcha type anti-bot thing that I can’t pass with firefox. I think it uses canvas.
edit: another I use all the time is called echo360. It’s the platform my university uses to host lecture videos. The player just plain doesn’t work in firefox - blank screen.
So that makes odysee’s behaviour OK?
Yeah it really does seem this way.
I’ve never been a “free speech absolutist”. I acknowledge that censorship is problematic, but it seems much less so than the alternative.
I hadn’t heard of this.
The FAQ says it’s not a 1 for 1 replacement. There’s a lot of features which can’t be ported.
It’s probably better than nothing for most people, but not as good as uBO was.
Still, I wonder why it’s not mentioned more often.
Meh.
Librewolf already breaks loads of websites with it’s fingerprinting resistance - just get used to turning it off.
In any case, you already need a chromium fork handy for all the sites that just plain don’t support firefox any more. I’ve run in to weird issues in firefox that don’t arise in chromium several times in the last month. This is going to get much worse.
As for changing browsers. I don’t care very much. I don’t use many browser features like bookmarks or passwords.
The article seems to be based on a number of flawed premises.
Firstly, that chatgpt is the only LLM. It’s not, and better, stronger, cheaper alternatives are likely to emerge.
Secondly, that LLMs are a step on the way to AGI. Like any minute now they’re going to evolve. They’re not, they’re a one trick pony which is making coherent sentences. That’s it.
My opinion doesn’t mean much since it’s been forever since I tried any other distro but I’m surprised Debian isn’t on the beginners list.
it might be a bit too involved for an absolute beginner to configure to perfection
I’m not really sure what this means? It might be more accurate to say it’s not the best distro if you’d like to tinker with your desktop experience.
Notably, nothing on the beginners list ought to be run as a headless server, but debian is perfect for that job. The reason I’ve become so enamoured with debian over the years is that I can use it on my desktop and on servers and it’s the same system - everything is exactly where I’m used to it being.
In my experience the AI assistant is just trained on the information available on the firm’s website.
In 2024 I never just call a company expecting to be able to be assisted by a person. It’s always quicker and easier to figure out how to interact with said company online. The only times you call are when it’s not possible to resolve your query by interacting with them online.
That being the case, the entire purpose of the AI in this case is just to make it less convenient to call them. “Have you tried to resolve your issue online? Are you really sure about that? Maybe I could paraphrase this blog post from our website written by an intern 12 years ago.”
Thunderbird is fine.
Maybe I have too much grey in my beard - I don’t care how modern it looks.
If you can’t export / save / transfer codes then you need to regenerate all your 2fa codes every time you switch to a new device.
2FA doesn’t need to be infallible, it just needs to be a second factor.
refuse.
That’s just not practically possible.
OP said they’re running a small business. It’s great that they want to fly the flag for FOSS, but they’re not in the business of promoting and advocating for FOSS. They still need to do the things they need to do.
Refusing to file your taxes on the grounds that the software provided is not open source is a great way to no longer be in business.
Even if that were true, and it seems unlikely, that’s still an order of magnitude more than the ladybug devs.
It might seem that way but it’s a fairly arrogant assertion. They’re a sophisticated organisation with a lot of well experienced people guiding them. As an outsider it’s easy to criticise their seemingly endless series of bad decisions, but I’m still confident that internally all of these decisions seemed like a good idea at the time.
Besides which, this would be a good reason to fork their codebase rather than starting from scratch.
Nice. These look great.
Do you know if it will turn off entirely if the temp is low enough? Or they just idle away at 300rpm or so.
Oh my sweet summer child.
Seems a little idealistic.
If ladybird actually achieves any sort of userbase they would take the same deal in an instant.
The flag looks a bit like a disgruntled goose.
