Pretty optimistic to assume LLM’s weren’t designed to kill people. Especially since we know that Israel and other countries literally use AI tech to kill people.

Let me assure you that I’m very lazy. I will passionately start using LLM’s as soon as they can do things that I need done… but it seems like that could take awhile.

“Sorry you got shot, our police officers never got firearm training.”
I mean, that’s pretty much most USA police departments. Average training budget only gives them about 25 rounds a year per officer… if that sounds like very little, that’s because it is.

Damn, that’s the type of shit that makes one want to rob a bank just hearing about it

So the USA government elections are pretty corrupt

As an American, I have been screaming basically this to anyone who will listen for my entire adult life.

So one year of increase vs 9 years of decrease is still an overall decrease.
Also there’s a difference between China choosing to do something with their planned economy, vs. random wacky shit happening here in Freemarketstan

They’ve been intentionally using coal to develop away from coal for decades. It’s been a long term strategic thing, using coal power plants to build solar panel factories, then shutting down the coal plants. Meanwhile the USA keeps using coal for fun basically, while being like “well the Chinese are using it too!”. It’s hard for me to see China as the villain here

Wow, so if AI has changed all of these fields, there must be some AI company making money? …right? It must be super easy to make money with such powerful tech, so there would obviously be a lot of good examples. Right?

So what AI company can I invest in and start making money, today? Which one is a going concern with solid financials? Because I’m pretty sure none of them are actually making more money than they’re spending on electricity. Because this tech doesn’t work on a very basic level.
Maybe it will get better. But it’s been years and I haven’t seen it improve enough to be economically relevant.

If it’s so useful, then surely all these AI companies are making money, right? I’ll wait

Denmark made the 32-hour workweek standard and their GDP went up. The fact that other countries aren’t following suit is proof that the capitalists don’t even follow their own statistical models.

I hate how people are so used to getting ripped off that they hear “four day work week” and assume that it’s going to be 4-10’s.
Like this is Bernie. He’s not perfect, but he gets this type of shit right. Obviously he’s advocating a 32 hour, 4-day work week. It says so in the article that apparently no one read. But people are just so inured to everything getting worse all the time. Damn.
Does use of the tool enable higher quality output in shorter time with less effort? If so, it’s a useful tool.
I agree with this statement, and I feel it’s pretty obvious that LLM’s will never be a useful tool.
I think you are unrealistically humanizing this software.
Also there are still “for real” matchmaking services — for marriage — in plenty of cultures. This is a pretty normal way for folks to get married in many countries. If these apps had gone for being “the digital version of that” instead of algorithmic enshittification, maybe it would be a different story
Craigslist casual encounters was wild. IYKYK
It was what Tinder always advertised itself as but never quite became 😂
Yeah that’s pretty transphobic, and it’s weird that he felt the need to make that long of a statement when he could have just said the last bit.
The President of the USA is a known pedophile who is murdering and kidnapping foreign heads of state and attempting to force the governments of other countries to do what he says.
Being apolitical has always been somewhat shortsighted, but now is definitely not the time.
This is why I’ve been arguing to anyone who will listen for like four years now. If this tech is so amazing, someone will figure out a way to make money off of it. Right? The fact that it’s been 4+ years and no one has made a damn cent off of it should be making more people skeptical. The fact that 4 years ago it was widely celebrated even though no one had a plan to make a damn cent off of it should have made more people skeptical back then. It’s weird that I have to keep arguing this with folks.
