The utility of the term “AI” depends on what you’re trying to communicate.

AI is a vague term used colloquially to describe a variety of dissimilar and unrelated technologies each carrying a unique mixture of pros and cons.

That’s a perfectly viable approach for users who aren’t interested in forge tooling and just need git push/pull capability.

You’re proselytizing mercurial in a thread full of git users. Migration is implied in your comment, even if you didn’t literally use those words.

“Simpler” is not necessarily an improvement and might actually be a downside. “Intuitive” is not universal and might not even be accurate for other people with different experiences.

I imagine that the signal devs viewed it as a similar concern as when you mistype your password the error message doesn’t give you any way to know if the password is wrong or if the account doesn’t exist.

If only some of your notifications are sanitized then those are the suspicious ones. If all of your notifications are sanitized then none of them are suspicious. Or, at least, they’re all equally suspicious, opaque, and unidentifiable.

Why do you so confidently assert things which you do not know but merely believe without checking?

Signal has supported this for many years. Users can choose full content notifications, name only, or no-content notifications.

It’s also true for every mainstream operating system.

I don’t think it requires or implies coordination. What looks like coordination might simply be an overall increase in authoritarian governments globally which all share many of the same incentives to limit privacy and increase population tracking.
