I know it’s been a while but I tried the flatpak version of mpv and it’s not working. If I open the flatpak version without any music it opens but it becomes unresponsive as soon as I try to load any music. I also have no idea how to diagnose this issue as running the flatpak version in the terminal gives no error messages.
The version that comes with Linux Mint works perfectly fine, so I don’t need the flatpak version, I’m just curious as to why the flatpak version doesn’t work.
I might try that later because, like I said earlier, I got the version of MPV that’s already installed to play YouTube videos and that fine for me. I also made configurations to the preinstalled version and I don’t know if it would be easy, or even possible, to transfer them to the flatpak version.
Well, while MPV might be outdated, I already mentioned that I was able to get YouTube videos working by downloading a newer version of yt-dlp and creating a conf file for MPV that links to it. While I was looking into the problem, the versions available in apt for all three of these are outdated by at least a year, possible 3 years for MPV. I’m not sure if this is just a Linux Mint issue but I have noticed that a lot of the software both preinstalled and available in it’s repository, are pretty outdated.
I might try downloading the newer versions of these later. I got MPV working and that’s good enough for me right now.
I got YouTube videos working in MPV. While I have no idea if the way I did it was technically not correct, all I did was download the newest version of yt-dlp from github and created a file name mpv.conf which links to the yt-dlp python file. I was also able to set a preferred resolution using that conf file.
VLC still gives me the same error message.
For MPV, it gives me the following error message:
`mpv https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3e9_l2oGxdw [ytdl_hook] ERROR: [youtube] 3e9_l2oGxdw: Unable to extract uploader id; please report this issue on https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/issues?q= , filling out the appropriate issue template. Confirm you are on the latest version using yt-dlp -U [ytdl_hook] youtube-dl failed: unexpected error occurred Failed to recognize file format.
Exiting… (Errors when loading file) `
I just tried that and it’s not working for me. MPV just closes itself and VLC gives me an error message. Do I need to do more that just drag and drop the URL?
Doesn’t this violate HIPAA, or does HIPAA not cover this?
I’m a bit confused as to how this could be an alternative to social media. The only things I’ve known RSS feeds to be used for are keeping up with subscriptions on platforms like YouTube and Odysee or updates for games like RuneScape.
Also, I just want to say that the last time I heard someone use the term “vcard”, it meant something completely different and I was confused at first.
So I just read the article and I was right and I’ll be editing my comment to reflect that.
Also, I did just re look at the tweets, they weren’t calling for the mass genocide of gay people, they were calling for the mass genocide of jewish people. The problem was that the tweet was linked with another tweet where they used the F-slur, so I forgot they said “jews” and not the F-slur. I’m going to have fix that too.
Just out of curiosity, have you even seen any of the tweets that I’m referring too?
While I have no problem with what Sweet Baby Inc does, I hate that all of the articles defending them (like this one) refuse to acknowledge a lot of the reasons why they are getting backlash. Like all of the tweets from SBI employees that either use racist/anti-LGBT slurs or advocate for the mass genocide of Jewish people or the fact that this whole thing started because SBI started a harassment campaign towards the creator of a steam group despite not having any information that actually proved that the group was in the wrong and also ignoring the fact that the group was created by someone from Brazil and claiming that the group was created by right-winged conspiracy theorists.
I don’t know if you are looking for anything specific but here is a list of some of the games that I would recommend trying:
The Harry Potter games, the PS2 version of these games seem to be heavily inspired by the N64 era Zelda games as they have a lot of similarities. Chamber of Secrets is, at least in my opinion, the best of the three but the other two games are still worth checking out. Also, something interesting to note is that, unlike how games for these systems normally are, the PS2 versions of these games are technically better than both the GameCube and Xbox versions due to porting issues and some other poor design choices.
The Sly cooper games, these games, especially 2 and 3, are speculated to be direct inspiration for the Assassin’s Creed games. Some say that Sly 2 is the best, while others say that 3 was the best, but I don’t know which one I prefer.
Monster house, I know that this is a bit of a weird one to mention, but it was a really good game. The game is similar to Resident Evil 4 in both gameplay and atmosphere. It’s one of the rare examples of a movie licensed game that was actually good.
Pac-Man World 2 and 3, both which are action platformers. I personally prefer 3 but 2 had a better soundtrack (I don’t know why they put that much effort in the OST of a Pac-Man game).
While I have no interest in using a service like this, I understand why they are doing this. I would imagine that a service like this probably costs a lot to run and it looks like they are adding them in a sensible way. It’s not like how a lot of mobile games are where the game just randomly stops in the middle of game-play to show you an ad.
It depends on the game. If the gender has an effect on the stats or gameplay, I may choose a female character if I think it would either benefit my character build or make the gameplay more interesting. If it’s just cosmetic, I will play as a female if I think the male characters look ugly and the game doesn’t have a femboy option.
I always use mine, the audio delay that bluetooth headphones have make them almost useless for me. I’m also not a fan of the fact that they either make loud noises or have some form of a voice to tell you when it’s either connected to a device or got a low battery.
Why? What benefit would Microsoft have in changing the requirements for Windows 11 when Windows 12 will more than likely be the OS they focus most of their resources on?
I’ve never heard of Plex until now, what kind of porn does it actually have? I can’t imagine it being any different from Netflix unless they allow some really “hardcore” stuff.
In addition to the fact that I remember this happening several years ago, I’m pretty sure this has been an issue for a while. When I decided to exclusively use Firefox about a year ago, YouTube as a whole would load slowly and it still does.
And I hate the fact that Google knows that they will benefit from this because, unfortunately, a majority of YouTube users are sheeple.
If the issue is with the DE, I’m actually using the Xfce edition of Linux Mint. I would just use VLC but it gives me performance issues because I don’t have the best hardware and mpv seems to work much more efficiently. But yeah, changing the audio output fixed this issue, I’m guessing the flatpak version of mpv defaults to pipewire. I was curious and I did test pipewire with both versions and I got the same results that they did.
