Sounds convenient.
Sounds convenient.
I’m sure they have an app to help you understand.
Nope. Just like living. Not sure what all the hoo-haw’s about. Never felt so old in my life.
Who doesn’t like hand feeding the fish? Why even have them?
Imagine… setting it while at home.
That’s true. It doesn’t.
I like the idea that some folks have entirely private systems run by raspberry-pi. That sounds fun.
But what can it do more easily than an mid 20th century home can do?
Okay — can anyone — and I mean anyone, please explain to me that allure of the so called home assistant. Our home was built in 1965. Its housed many families very comfortably. It houses our family very comfortably. Our kids are heading off to college. Tra la la. We have holidays, happiness, and we contribute to the community at a variety of events. We sleep well. Eat well. We host parties of up to fifty people sometimes… we have a yard.We have a dog, two cats, fish etc. All the things that happen in a home.
We are happy.
We have no so called smart products. We use a terrestrial radio in the kitchen on the daily. We stream from the rip-off services when we desire. We are up on the shows etc. So we have internet — each of us has a phone and a device for working. I just don’t get it.
What is the allure of the so called smart home etc?
Keep me posted.
And thanks for the link to the images!
The great LINUX uprising of 2025!!!
Totally. Thanks.
I’m not exactly acclimatized to the new environment.
OP rocks!
Isn’t it great how twenty six people in a community about privacy downvoted your reasonable comment. Can’t wait or them to downvote this one too. We’re not in this group to jeer piracy and villainize it.
We’re here to celebrate it!
I’m not a huge gamer. 30 hours per year max. I get to longing some immersion so I do four hours and I’m free of the longing for months. I think this might be why I haven’t needed any maintenance.
My kids are still on an XBOX ONE but they too have pretty much grown out of excessive gaming.
Who knows how long these will last when the use falls to minimum.
It’s not jailbroken. I can still pick up games for it at garage sales. I haven’t run into problems — but I mostly play racing games — obviously not online but it’s still fun. RDR still runs. Working as usual.
I’m using a thirteen year old XBOX 360 — love it. Have all physical media. It’s fun. 7 more years until 20 so I guess I’ll keep you posted.
uBlock Origin and Matrix are entirely new to me — of course I can’t have missed references to them in discussions but I just don’t have the time to chase down every good idea.
Simply getting engaged with the Fediverse has been adventure enough.
Here’s hoping more and more people start valuing their privacy more and more.
You need to hand a twenty to a dude on the corner. That’s privacy. We used to have it.
Perfectly relevant. Thank you.
I enjoyed reaching the gist of your meaning: Legislation needs to be written.
So let’s hope that can happen.
And on a personal level, what have you heard about people who intentionally make their data useless?
This has been my strategy.
I never buy what’s recommended.
I purchase items with cash when I can so they are not added to my “profile”.
Have you heard much about this strategy? How might it work if everyone used it? Generally thoughts for how we can defy their machine and protect ourselves?
One would hope…
Hope I didn’t fall for Any honeypots. I sometimes wonder about posts in Piracy communities.
Forgive me but the Pi is an order Of magnitude better than the dinosaurs you mention.
