  • Market the company and, for smaller companies that want funding, beg and network.

Leadership is often removed from how work actually gets done. This is part of why they often make bonkers decisions.

They don’t understand that most of the time isn’t going into typing code into the computer. It’s figuring out what the product guy and CEO actually want. It’s pulling answers out of them (eg: what do you want to do if the user’s name is null?) or dealing with it when they don’t like your decision (eg: you didn’t say what to do when I don’t have their name, so the email just says “hey”. I really don’t think this is a crisis)

  • Workers skeptical of unions in a survey of 1,900 tech professionals conducted by the career site Blind cited specific concerns: that unions are “not meritocratic,” “prevent innovation,” and “hold back earnings of top performers.”

Looking at my non union job where idiots make millions and it has taken years to get even the basics of ci/cd implemented.

  • Arpgs do have a big random factor, but many have some element of crafting to offset it. Sometimes as small as slotting upgrade stuff (ie: gems) into armor, sometimes more involved. I’m pretty sure path of exile 1 had some depth to it, but I never went super hard. It’s one of the only free to play games that isn’t abusive, so it’s pretty low risk to try. I like the second game more, but it’s early access and has less stuff.
